It’s a common inclination to spend less money on home-furnishings when you’re in the child-rearing or pet-owning stage of life, but area rugs are an exception. If you have the budget, the best option for you is a hand-knotted, wool rug. They are hands-down the most durable and easiest to clean option. However, if your budget doesn’t allow for this sort of investment, consider a synthetic, machine-made rug with darker colors or an intricate pattern. Darker colors tend to hide stains much better than lighter.
We strongly suggest avoiding rugs made of natural fibers, shag rugs, or light-colored rugs as these are all very difficult to clean.
